Domain has "no NS DNS record" error
Posted by Chris Atherton on 07 December 2012 11:22 AM

On some of our older plans there is an error with the Plesk control panel which prevents you from updating your DNS zone when you add new records.  The error message that you get will say something like this:

"Domain has no NS DNS record."

To work around the issue please add the two Nameserver records in the following way:

To edit your DNS records for your domain, first please login to the control panel.  For details on how to do this please see the following link:

http://www.ehosting.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/70/42/logging-in-and-navigating-to-your-control-panel.

  1. Click on the home tab
  2. Click on the domains link/domains tab/domains icon (globe icon).
  3. Click on the 'manage hosting/control panel' link corresponding to the domain name.  Click on the domain name if there is no link
  4. Please click on the DNS or DNS settings icon
  5. Click on the add record icon
  6. Select 'NS' from the record type drop down
  7. Ignore the Enter domain name field
  8. In enter name space add one of the following:

             ns1.ehosting.com
             ns2.ehosting.com
  9. Click OK
  10. Repeat the process to add the second record
  11. Click the update button

This should allow you to make custom DNS settings in future.  If you have any difficulties please get in touch with us at support@ehosting.com.
